The Garden Pier in Atlantic City

The Garden Pier is a popular attraction in Atlantic City, with people visiting for its historical museum and arts center.

The pier was also famous for holding the Golden Mermaid contest, which later became the Miss America pageant

You can find Garden Pier at the end of New Jersey Avenue, opposite casinos like Revel and close to the Showboat casino

Opened in 1913, the Garden Pier is relatively small, just 700 feet long. When it was first built it had beautiful gardens (hence, the name) which were connected to an open air theatre.

In its prime, the pier also had an indoor theatre and a ballroom.

Following a storm in 1944, the city decided to restore and improve the structure. The restoration saw the pier made into what can be recognized today, providing space for a popular historical museum and arts centre.
